Enjoy The Many Benefits Of Travel Blogging
I’ve been blogging now for just over 12 years and in that time, I can’t believe the huge numbers of people starting their own blogs for one reason or another.
It’s seems blogging in all forms has become the latest craze around the 🌎 world, and for very good reason! Last count I obtained online, showed over ten million ✈ travel blogs alone out there!
Of those millions, it’s estimated that only a few thousand are long term, committed and very serious bloggers. Those are the few that can earn income and/or other incentives blogging.
I’ve had many people contact me regarding starting a blog of their own for 💰 profit. They seem to think like most, that it’s a really great idea for making money and/or other opportunities.
Well that’s certainly true, but I thought I would offer my input after a number of dedicated years at this on a part time basis.
Just a few pointers on what to expect, if you choose to start a blog of your own for this purpose.
Blogging For A Specific Purpose
Every day, I follow and read some wonderful blogs that continue to inspire me.
At the same time, I’m also discouraged about the number of fraudulent, misleading and get rich quick schemers that are out there as well, that are ruining it for us genuine bloggers.
It’s getting pretty easy for me now to spot blogs that are not genuine, and there only purpose is to make a fast 💵 buck.
Update 2022
I’ve discovered by doing – Google searches of my articles, that I have been a victim of copyright protection.
Websites are actually copying my hard work and posting on bogus websites that are plastered with advertising. This is just one of the things to be aware of when starting your own blog.
I have to check my articles on a regular basis and then notify Google Copyright Protection, to have them removed. Such a pain and time consuming as well. 🤨
My Facebook Blog Page was compromised a few seasons ago, losing about 3000 Followers. I’ve had to start all over again, which is a bummer. It’s just another one of those things that’s a reality in the wonderful world of blogging and could happen to you along the way as well.
I do however, enjoy reading other peoples blogs, no matter what their niche may be.
Ones that are real, speak from personal experience and offer informative material that I’m actually searching for.
I’ve gathered so many helpful tips and advice over the years from these blogs, and thankful that they’re out there for us to discover.
This has always been my main objective blogging and still is today.
Blogging for a genuine purpose is great and just one of the many – Benefits Of Travel Blogging.
Whether it’s for a business or to earn a little extra income, sponsorship opportunities, product or service endorsements, or just to have as a personal diary.
There’s no better or cheaper way to reach the world, then having your own blog.
Check out my recent article here on 📸 Reasons to Start a Travel Blog, for those who have always wanted to but not sure where to start.
Below are some tips I’ve learned from others over the years, for those who may be interested in travel blogging for profit.
Blogging For Profit Is A Commitment
I’ve been running my blog here since 2012 . The travel blog I started prior to Gr8 Travel Tips was used solely as a learning experience for about a year.
Like starting any new business, I had to learn how to write a quality article, discover and learn what (SEO) Search Engine Optimization is all about, open Social Media Accounts, interact with others on line and yes, a whole lot more!
I still learn new things every day and the most important lesson I’ve learned to date, is to be honest, personal and not be fake or misleading!
I probably picked the most difficult type of blog to make money at or get noticed on, and that’s a Travel Blog.
There are literally millions of travel blogs or websites out there, but travel is my passion and I wasn’t interested in earning money anyway.
I wanted to slowly develop a quality travel blog that people will enjoy and for myself, to eventually have businesses in the travel sector take notice.
My main goal was the possibility of developing sponsorship/partner opportunities with these businesses, especially when traveling.
It’s taken a number of years of very hard work and commitment, but the rewards have been tremendous.
I recall my first sponsorship opportunity with a major 🏨 hotel chain, that hosted my wife and I for a 2 night luxurious stay at their property.
I was thrilled beyond belief!
It was like finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel, for those long hours devoted to developing a quality respected travel blog.
Set Blogging Goals For Yourself
If you are interested in travel blogging, are willing to commit endless amount of hours and years for that matter to your blog, then there is light at the end of the tunnel for your hard work and devotion.
You can set goals for yourself and go as far as you like if you are determined.
If you think you can earn 💰 big dollars overnight with little effort, don’t waste your valuable time!
Blogging Do’s
✔ Do follow leading bloggers in your niche and learn from them;
✔ Do learn about (SEO) search engine optimization;
✔ Do open social media accounts and interact with others in your niche;
✔ Do write informative and high quality articles;
✔ Do pick an attractive theme for your blog to match your style (WordPress is a great start and free!);
✔ Do expect to work very hard and to take years before seeing results of any kind;
✔ Do have fun!
Blogging Do Not’s
🚥 Do not expect to make money or rewards in a short time;
🚥 Do not post crap on your blog;
🚥 Do not overload your blog with advertising;
🚥 Do not use those annoying pop up subscribe windows;
🚥 Do not buy anything that sounds too good to be true that promise to make your blog the best out there.
My Pet Peeve From Blogging
When I see Brand New Blogs with literally thousands of followers on their Social Media Accounts, it really annoys me knowing that these are not genuine followers.
I know immediately that these blogs are not genuine and I won’t go near them!
🕵 Stealing other peoples work is also difficult to take, but a reality with those fake bloggers around the world, that are only out for profit.
As mentioned earlier, I’ve run into articles of mine numerous times on the internet, that have been just copied and pasted on these bogus sites.
Don’t do that!
Benefits of Travel Blogging – The Huge Rewards
There are great rewards in blogging if you are willing to put a lot of hard work and effort into it, just like any business. Those who think they can earn money in a short time or get sponsored easily, they’re dreaming!
Professional Marketing and Media Managers out there can spot the fakes quite easily, when looking for potential bloggers to promote their product or service.
Be real, write honestly, work hard, don’t worry about traffic counts and things will happen and opportunities will eventually come your way!
I’m living proof of that! 🙂
I’m a part time baby boomer blogger who loves to travel, and who also enjoys reading about other bloggers adventures from their blogs.
Successful Travel Blogging Requires Travel
In closing here, one very important aspect of running a successful travel blog is that it does require you to travel and to experience exactly what you are writing about.
It takes a great deal of planning, research, coordinating, scheduling and eventually traveling to your chosen destination.
After all, isn’t that what a travel blog is all about?
But above all, have fun with it and don’t be afraid to express your personal opinion and experience.
That’s what people really want to read about and what is just a sample of the benefits of travel blogging are all about. Offering good, personal views and opinions people are in search of, not just advertising.
I know I do!
I still have a long way to go, but I’m excited about what the – Benefits Of Travel Blogging will bring in the future.
Businesses out there both big and small, are really taking notice and becoming more aware of the huge benefits serious bloggers can offer them!
Safe and Healthy Travels! 🙂
