Jeff Olhfs wrote about the Driving the Natchez Trace Parkway – Episode 810

A handful of additional comments on Natchez Trace episode. The mention of the true historic Natchez Trace as a Nationwide Scenic Trail was missed. The path by itself is a separate device of the National Park Technique. The parkway parallels the first Native American trace. Meriwether Lewis of Lewis & Clark fame is buried alongside the parkway at mp 385.9. The Parkway also has a restored plantation at Mount Locust at mp 15.5. A pair of other units of the Countrywide Park Program not talked about are the Brices Cross Roads Countrywide Battlefield Website (the only device in the Countrywide Park Procedure with a “National Battlefield Site” designation) and Tupelo Countrywide Battlefield. Both equally protect Civil War battlefields on or in close proximity to the Parkway. Ultimately, Natchez Countrywide Historic Park preserves the legacy of the city in 3 locations, the Melrose Mansion, William Johnson Dwelling (“The Barber of Natchez”), and Fort Rosalie (shut to the public).
