Accused bank robber caught hiding in Dearborn porta-potty pleads guilty

DEARBORN, MI — A guy who was located by law enforcement hiding in a porta-potty earlier this 12 months has admitted to robbing the Dearborn Federal Savings Bank. Charles Woolery, 52, of Inkster entered a responsible plea in federal court Monday to a demand of financial institution robbery in connection to the March 2 incident.

Prosecutors accused Woolery of allegedly holding up a financial institution teller by handing her a take note and motioning to his hip that he experienced a weapon on him. The note demanded that the teller smile and put dollars into a bag or else he would “kill all people.” The teller complied and handed Woolery a bag containing $1,690 just before Woolery fled the scene.

Police sooner or later caught up to Woolery in a porta-potty situated in the parking whole lot of the Hampton Inn on Michigan Avenue. Police identified the black ski mask he was allegedly donning through the theft and the dollars stuffed in the front pocket of a hooded sweatshirt he was wearing.

“This scenario demonstrates that violent criminals can run, but they just cannot conceal no issue where by they may go,” said U.S. Legal professional Dawn Ison.  “The federal authorities appreciate the help and partnership of the Dearborn Law enforcement Department.”

Woolery is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 19 and faces up to 20 decades in prison for the bank theft demand.
